Happy 60th Birthday! – Dr. Hemalatha K
Dear Vasu,
It feels like just yesterday we were classmates in the MSW course at Bangalore University, learning, debating, and dreaming about the kind of change we wanted to see in the world. Watching the path you have chosen since then has been nothing short of inspiring.
Your dedication to child rights and the establishment of Child Rights Trust in Bangalore has left a lasting impact—not only among lawmakers and policy makers, but also in the lives of countless children who now have a stronger voice because of your tireless advocacy. You’ve shown what it truly means to live a life of purpose, and I couldn’t be prouder to call you my friend. Over the years, you have tirelessly engaged with parliamentarians and policy makers, ensuring that child rights are not just discussed but embedded into the very fabric of legislation and governance. Your ability to speak truth to power, while maintaining respect and dignity, has earned everyone’s admiration.
On a personal note, I have always admired your ability to balance seriousness with warmth. Even after long days of meetings and advocacy, you have never missed an occasion to catch up with old friends. As I reflect on your work, I feel immense pride and gratitude. Pride, because your efforts have touched the lives of thousands of children. Gratitude, because your friendship has taught me the value of standing up for what is right, even when the path is difficult. As you celebrate this milestone, may you look back with joy on all that you’ve accomplished, and look forward with excitement to the many ways you will continue to inspire and lead.
Wishing you good health, happiness, and the fulfillment of knowing that your work has made the world a better place.
With admiration and warmest wishes,
Dr. Hemalatha K., Professor, Dept. of Social Work, Christ (deemed to be University), Bangalore.
